In recent years, there has been a significant rise in the therapeutic potential of integrating mindfulness into clinical practice. Various contemplative traditions have long held that ongoing mindfulness practice leads to greater awareness of internal and external experiences and supports the development of self-regulation and empathy. A growing body of research with adults provides evidence that mindfulness truly does foster these skills. However, researchers and clinicians are still determining how to best adapt mindfulness practices for youth in order to build on their natural capacity for quieting the mind and embracing acceptance. In this workshop, we will explore the applications of mindfulness-based practices with children, adolescents and families in order for clinicians to cultivate mindful moments and support the growth of resilient youth.
