| Service Description: |
Strengthens the capacity of families to relate positively to their children, reduce the incidence of child abuse, and promote the healthy development * delivers service in a holistic and inclusive manner Child Abuse Prevention Program - Prevention awareness through public presentations, distribution of resources, and the media * child abuse education programs regarding violence and child abuse prevention for teachers and social workers * ensures that all children have access to activities that encourage healthy development such as sports, recreation and the arts One on One Parent Support/Education - For primary child care providers * home visiting, linking with community resources and parent support groups * Parent Support/Education Workers provide group leadership, training and support for parents and caregivers, and work with the community to improve local parenting resource and support systems * workers provide in-home parent support, dealing with issues such as, feelings of isolation, overwhelming transportation issues, and parenting needs * for parents of children birth to six years Parenting Programs - Parenting programs geared to meet the needs of parents with children and youth Father Involvement - Integrated into all programs and services offered at Rural Response for Healthy Children Financial Literacy Programs - Financial issues workshops * training and supports including budgeting, economic options and education savings Kids on the Block Program - Uses life-size puppets to provide children in Grade 3 and 4 with personal safety training, giving them problem solving skills necessary to recognize physical and sexual abuse situations * provided in elementary schools in Huron County * provides teachers and professionals with resources and the Early Learning Video for children junior kindergarten to Grade 2 teaching lessons dealing issues such as aggression, compassion and perseverance * available on request to parents, caregivers and professionals throughout Southern Ontario Kinderoo - Pre-kindergarten program for 3-4 year olds * held during the summer months in kindergarten classes SNAP - Personal Safety Education for Children with Different Abilities - Education about abuse involving children with different abilities by using puppets * works directly with parents, caregivers and teachers to develop personal safety plans for young children with different abilities |
